The Humane Society has always been a place that provides both resources and hope for pets and pet parents alike. The Humane Society of West Michigan (HSWM) has served its community as a donor-funded non-profit for many years, with a mission “to promote the humane treatment and responsible care of animals in West Michigan through education, example, placement, and protection”.

The Core Imaging team was delighted to donate a Core Imaging Ultrasound to the HSWM team to provide them with in-house advanced imaging services.

We sat down with Megan Ellinger, the Director of Animal Welfare, to discuss what the ultrasound donation meant for HSWM.

The arrival of a new ultrasound machine promises a bright future for patients and staff at HSWM.

Megan commented, “Having an ultrasound machine, specifically one that has the ability to scan small animals and kittens properly, gives HSWM the ability to diagnose and fix problems as we see them. This saves us time and money in sending an animal out for treatment and allows us to focus on getting them healthy so that they can find their forever home!”

Not only will staff have the opportunity to provide better care for large patients but team members are excited to finally have access to a pediatric probe. This probe works on the tiniest of kittens, puppies, guinea pigs and other small animals to give HSWM imaging capabilities they’ve never had before. As a 100% donor-funded nonprofit a pediatric probe is something the clinic could never have afforded without the donation from Core Imaging.

“Randy and the team were all AMAZING! They are so responsive and attentive and friendly that it made the whole process extremely easy and pain free.
